"Trip Out West 2010" (Week 1)

Well the time has finally come and we are off on our "Trip Out West 2010". We left on April 13th and spent most of the first two days on the road, driving 1090 miles and landing in LA. We camped on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and ate a Muffalatta! Driving over 550 miles the next day we arrived in San Antonio, TX just in time for their Fiesta Days. We visited Market Square, walked the River Walk, visited the Alamo and drove the Mission Trail. On the trail we visited 4 of the historic missions. On April 17th we left the freeways and headed West on TX route 90 with a stop at the Alamo City movie set where Carl ended up in jail at my request! We camped that night at Seminole Canyon where we took a short hike down to the rim of the Canyon. The views were awesome. We headed out again the next day and stopped at Eagle Nest Creek which lay in an awesome canyon and was not even marked on a map! We also stopped at Langtry, TX, home of the infamous judge Roy Bean, crossed the Pecos River Bridge and finally arrived at Big Bend NP. That evening we hiked to Boquillas Canyon on the Rio Grande River. Over the next two days we hiked into Santa Elena Canyon, Tuff Canyon, Chisos Basin and several other trails. We cannot begin to tell you how awesome all the sights were but maybe the pictures at this link will do that for us.
